Committees and Events

Brief descriptions of PTA committees and events for the school year are below. There are countless ways to be involved – at the school itself or remotely; during the school day, evenings, or on weekends; consistently or at particular points during the school year.  You name it. However much time you can commit to, there is a place for you. Please complete the volunteer form get involved today!

Committees

Eighth Grade Graduation Committee

Grade 8 Fundraising efforts throughout the year to pay for 8th grade trip and graduation party. (10 volunteers needed)
Catalog Sale Committee
The PTA’s biggest fundraising effort. Distribute catalogs, take orders, and distribute goods. (10 volunteers needed)
Grant Writing Committee
Search and apply for grants to help our school. Even if you don’t have a lot of time but want to join, you are welcome. (8 volunteers needed)
Hospitality & Refreshments Committee
Hospitality committee provides refreshments for PTA meetings, special events and on occasion for school sponsored events. Responsibilities include purchasing food and beverages prior to the scheduled event. If you shop for your family, you can help without much of a time commitment. (15 volunteers needed)
Gardening Committee
Help maintain school garden. (6 volunteers needed)
Library Committee
Help keep the library running smoothly by shelving returned books, checking for misplaced books, labeling books, etc. (10 volunteers needed)
On-Call Volunteers Committee
For those of you who are unsure of your schedules or are last-minute planners. On-call volunteers will be asked throughout the school year, via email, when special needs arise. For example: sorting communication materials into class sets, opening/closing events, etc. (20 volunteers needed)
Events

Picture Day – October 30, 2015

Help with combing/grooming of younger students, confirm paperwork is completed, and manage the crowd. (8 volunteers needed)
Spooky Dance – November 7, 2015
Costume party with contests, games and dancing. Help needed with event planning, setup, event activities, and cleanup. (12 volunteers needed)
Fall Parent-Teacher Conference Table – Nov. 16th & Nov. 17th
Manage PTA table with merchandise and information during Parent-Teacher Conference. (8 volunteers needed)
Teacher Appreciation Breakfast – Dec 4, 2015
Organize food, decorate, host the breakfast and clean-up. (6 volunteers needed)
8th Grade Holiday Sale – December 15th – 17th  during lunch
Help with gift sales at the school cafeteria during lunch. Setup and cleanup help also needed. (10 volunteers needed)
Book Fair – March 8th, 9th & 10th
Scholastic Books provides books and toys for annual book fair. Volunteers arrange delivery of the book fair books, manage the sales/monitor the cash register, help student and parent customers, restock shelves, work with teachers to specify “wish list” books, and contact local authors to perform book readings. (20 volunteers needed)
ARISTA Induction Reception – Usually in April
Help provide refreshments during the ARISTA induction ceremony. Setup and cleanup help needed. (6 volunteers needed)
Earth Day- May 4
Help needed with event planning, setup, event activities, and cleanup. (10 volunteers needed)
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon – June 8th
Volunteers organize food (donated/prepared by parents), decorate, host the lunch and clean-up. Other volunteers: prepare a dish. (10 volunteers needed)
Pre-K Stepping Up Ceremony – late June
Help provide refreshments during stepping up ceremony. Setup and cleanup help needed. (6 volunteers needed)
K Stepping Up Ceremony – late June
Help provide refreshments during stepping up ceremony. Setup and cleanup help needed. (6 volunteers needed)
8th Grade Graduation – late June
Assist with 8th grade graduation ceremony. (15 volunteers needed)
