After School

The PTA is working to create an on-site after school program at 499. We are happy to announce that The Central Queens Y is currently providing busing from 499 to their off-site after school program and is still accepting new students:

Kids Korner is an after school program that runs out of the Central Queens Y in Forest Hills, Queens. A typical day at Kids Korner starts off when the kids arrive between 3:00-3:15pm. They are received by our highly skilled staff that welcome them and begin the day with snacks. Homework Room is available for those that want to begin or complete their homework before being picked up. We are a recreational based program that focuses on providing the kids with as many stimulating activities to choose from as possible. Club activities are chosen from a club sheet form that will be available shortly and each child participates in one club per day. When not doing homework or participating in a club, the kids are generally found playing on our playdeck, air hockey machine, fooseball table or reading a book from our library. Kids Korner can appreciate how difficult it is to juggle a work and home life and because of this we are happy to provide extended hours (as compared to school based after school programs). Kids Korner runs Monday-Thursday till 6:30pm and Fridays until 6:00pm.

Does anyone else use a local afterschool program that provides transportation from the school? I am looking into after school for my 5th grader. I live in Rego Park, so something that may be midway would be great, the Y is on wait list only, and quite $$

I believe the Central Queens Y link posted above is wrong/outdated. This is the CQY website “Kids Korner”: http://www.cqy.org/kids-kornerafterschool-program/
